Waimate Borough Council.
A meeting of the Waimate Borough Council was held on Monday evening. There were present His Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Sinclair, Jones, Cameron, and A. Watt. The following correspondence was read and considered : From Mr Sinclair, asking for permission to erect a verandah in front of his new premises in Queen itreet. —Application granted. From the Registrar-General, asking for statistical returns.—The clerk was instructed to attend to the matter. From the secretary of the Waimate Fire Brigade, enclosing their balance sheet and asking for a subsidy.—The matter was ordered to stand over until next meeting. The Finance Committee were instructed to report on the case of a tenant who was in arrears with his rent. The clerk was instructed to request the inspector of nuisances to send in a monthly report to the council. The clerk was instructed to see that a tap for drinking purposes was put upon one of the tanka in Victoria Park. Accounts amounting to £45 7s were passed for payment. The council thou rose.
