THE PARNELL COMMISSION

(Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Per Press Association.) (Received 6 p.m., April 14th.) London, April 13. The court was crowded to-day during Sir Charles Russell’s address on behalf of Mr Parnell. The learned counsel argued that The Times had based its charges of “Parnellism and Crime” on Eugene Davis’ bogus confession, which Pigott invented and afterwards palmed off on The Times. In making reference to the cheque which Mr Parnell sent to Byrne, Sir Charles Russell declared that it was sent for an innocent purpose. The Commission has been adjourned until the 30th instant, when Mr Parnell will be examined.
