To-morrow evening at the Baptist Church the Eev. C. 0. Brown will take as his subject “We must all soon die. The words of the Apostle Paul are true of each of us, ‘ The time of my departure is at hand.’ ”

The Government have notified volunteer officers commanding districts that no expenses in connection with the transport of men to camp can be paid out of the companies’ funds which have accumulated from capitation. All the expenses attending a camp outside the district are to be borne by the men themselves.

The rehearsals of Cloches de Corneville ” are being carried on with the utmost success, and the music-loving people of Timaru may be certain of a great treat when they witness the performances, which will take place at the Theatre Eoyal on race nights, the 2nd and 3rd of May, and sports nights, the Bth and 9th. No expense is being spared in mounting the opera, and the dresses, properties, and scenery might bo favourably compared with any that have ever been produced either in Melbourne or Sydney. The tickets and box plan will be out during the week, and wo would advise everybody who intends patronising these performances to book their seats early.

The Timaru Sunny South Minstrels jour neyed to Geraldine on Thursday, and in the Volunteer Hall in the evening treated the Geraldinio public to one of their popular entertainments. The attendance was very fair, and everyone present appeared to thoroughly enjoy the songs, farces, dances, etc., of the minstrels. A dance was held afterwards, to which a largo number stayed, and dancing was kept up with great spirit till well into the small hours of the morning.
