The report and balance sheet were submitted to the meeting and adopted. The report was as follows:—“To the delegates S.C.E.U. Tour committee in presenting their first annual report to the delegates have much pleasure in stating that the forming of the union caused much increased activity throughout football circles in South Canterbury. The union numbers 5 clubs, all playing as seniors, namely—Pirates, Temuka, Timaru, Waihi, and Waimate. Wo have to congratulate members on the balance sheet for the year, which taking all things into consideration, the committee deem highly satisfactory, the receipts being £l4 8s 9d ; expenditure, £43 2s 2d, leaving a balance of £1 fis 7d on hand. Only one union match was played, namely, against the Native football team now in England j your team being defeated by 2 goals and 3 tries (9 points) to nil, which, considering the short notice given by them that they intended visiting us, must be considered satisfactory. Your committee recommend that a team be sent to Christchurch about the end of July to meet the Canterbury Rugby Union. In conclusion we would draw the attention of clubs to the fact that it is more than probable that you will have visits from outside unions during the ensuing season, and also of all footballers to the new rules, and suggest that clubs procure copies as soon us possible for distribution among the members.” The following officers were elected for tbo ensuing year : —President, Mr !S. T. Rhodes (re elected); vice-presidents, Messrs W. 11, Moore (re-elected), J. S. H’Emden(re-elected), J. T. M. Hayhurst; selection committee, Messrs Flint, Fitzgerald, and Matheson j
