Some members of the Board of 'Education to-day amused themselves two or three times by referring to Mr Mackey's motion that the County Council must “ take iu the inferior bodies,” the Education Board being, of course, one'of the “ inferior bodies.”

We learn that Dr Ewart has declined to withdraw his resignation as resident surgeon to the Timaru Hospital. Andrew Mcaney, who met with a serious accident on Bosmg Day, is still in the Waimato Hospital, and though not rational, yet his other injuries are improving. The broken jaw has united, and the broken thigh is doing well, but would be considerably better were it not for the restlessness of the patient. Dr Do Latour, of Oamaru, who lately visited the hospital, thought the patient was doing as well as could be expected.
