Napier, Oct. 6. The attendance at I'.the course was much the same as yesterday,the weather is threatening, but so far no rain baa fallen and as on the previous day the complaints are confined to the defective railway arrangements, everything else being of a satisfactory character.
Maiden Pdate, of 60 sovs ; miles. Mr J. Mann's Rivulet, 3yrs, (A. Woods) 1 Captain Kingeell’a Fardingale, 3yrs (Reeves) 2 Mr J. Johnston’s Orwell, 6yrs (Robinson) 3 Kitty, Totara, Expelled, Forester, Musk Rose, British Lion, and Snapshot alco ran. Expelled and Cardigan were the first to get away, and they maintained the lead past the Stand when the field closed up, and at the turn Musk Rose fell, and rolled over bis rider, Myers. At the back of the course Rivulet went up to Fardingale and Expelled dropped back. Coming into the straight Rivulet took the lead, winning easily by a length. Time—2mins. 19 4-stb secs. Totalisator dividend —Inside, £1 10s. Handicap Hdbdlb Race, of 100 sovs ; about 2 miles. Mr Gallon’s b g Liberty, 6yrs, 9st 71b (Warren) 1 Mr W. Ellingbam’s b m Danbeigb, aged, list 101 b ... (EUingham) 2 Mr W. Ellingham’s b g Bide-a-Wee, 9st 31b ... (G’Shanneay) 3 Belle, Director, Volcano, and Kangaroo also ran. Volcano and Bide-a-Wee wore the first to take the lead, followed by Denheigh. They maintained tbia order for the first mile and a half, when Liberty and Denbeigb closed up and went to the front. Half-way down tho straight the two cleared away from the rest, Liberty winning by a length from Djobeigb, Bide-a-Wee a bad third. There were 230 investors on the inside totalistor, two being on the winner. Dividend £lO3 10s; outside 341, dividend £153 9s.
Spring Handicap, of 300 sova. One and a half miles.
Mr P. Martin’s b g Silence, 4yrs, 7«t 41 b, including 51b penalty. (Lagor) 1 Mr J. Munn’s b m Waitiri, 4yrs, Sat 61b (Woods) 2 Hanmara Hgapara’s b m Lady Artist, 6yr«, 7ib ... (Reeves) 3 Administrator, Peal,Marion,Strenuous, Cremorne, Sanudio, Normanby, and Fsrdingale also started. Silence was the first away at the start followed by Lady Artist, Fardingale, and Marion, Waitiri a long way behind. Silence - kept the lead all the way, winning easily by three lengths, Waitiri just beating Lady Artist for second place. Totalisator dividend—lnside, £8 2s, Outside, £5 12s. Time—2min 41|seo.
