An extraordinary election for the return of one member to the Tcmuka Road Board in place of the late Mr J. Paterson, deceased, will be hold on Thursday 14th inst. Nominations must be made by the 13th.
TEMUR A TOWN BOARD. The first meeting of the new-elected Town Board was held last night in the Town Board office. Present—Messrs Gray, Blytb, Brown, Coirs and Mason. ELECTION OF CHAIBMAN. Mr Gray proposed that Mr Blyth take the chair. Mr Blyth wished to decline, and then proposed Mr Gray. He bad done the business of chairman well last year and should like bim elected again for the ensuing term. Mr Mason seconded (be amendment and no one seconding Mr Gray's proposal it lapsed. The Clerk then declared Mr Gray elected. election of offickes. At the suggestion of the Chairman Mr Dyson was re-elected as Secretary on the motion of Mr Blyth, which was seconded by Mr Brown, . COBEBSPONDENCE. The following correspondence . wqs read From Mr T. Beri, asking permission to erect a post in front of the Mechanics’ Institute, Granted. From the Fire Brigade, enclosing engine keeper's account. From Mr R. Pinckney, oc behalf of St. Saviour’s Church Vestry, complaining of a ditch out through Thomas street, which let the water into the Church paddock. Decided that the Overseer see to it, From Captain H'yhurst, on behalf of the Volunteer. s , asking the Board to open up Pilbrow street, so as to enable the Volunteers to get to their rifle range. The Chairman said it would be better for the Volunteers to apply to the Road Board to open the road down by tl}o Police Station. The matter was deferred. TOWN' I3IPEO YEMENIS. Mr Blyth suggested that the Board ought to do something with the money the Board had lying idle in the bank. Mr Brown suggested that they might go in for asphalting the footpaths. The Chairman said a report might be brought up at next meeting. Mr Coira then moved and Mr Blyth seconded—“ That the Chairman with Mr Brown be a sub-committee to act with the Overseer to consider the question of asphalting the footpaths, and report at the next meeting.” lamp-lightbb. It was decided that the Overseer inform the lamp-'ighter that unless ho attends to the lamps better-ho will get a mouth’s notice in accordance with the agreement. : ; ACCOUNT’S. . Acoonnts to the amount of £4(5 6d wore passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
