Melbourne, Sept. 25.

Mr W. H. Solomon, a resident of Maoarthnr street, Ballarat, near the old Cemetery, gome days ago, was playing with a cat, which bit him on the hand while frisking about. The bite was not considered serious by Mr Solomon at the time, but next day the hand and wrist commenced to swell, and finally the arm became much swollen and the sufferer, at the request of friends sought advice at the Hospital whore Dr Morrison, the Resident Surgeon, pronounced the case one of blood poisoning, and said serious consequences would probably ensue. This has been the case, for Mr Solomon died at a late hour last night. His body and bis legs and arms were swollen to a considerable extent. The bite appeared anything but serious to the unfortunate man’s friends, and the injury was considered one itbat other persons had frequently sustained without even inoovenienoe. Deceased was a strong healthy man, about thirty-six years of age, proprietor of a grocery store, and was unmarried.
