[By Telegraph.] Christchurch, June 28. A general meeting of the Canterbury Jorir'-y Club was held at Warner's Hotel yesterday afternoon. Mr G. G. Stead explained that the principal business of the meeting was to consider the programme for the season as proposed by the Committee. The Spring meeting had £IOOO added to it, the New Year’s meeting remained the same, and the Autumn meeting had £SOO added to it. On the motion of Mr Thomas seconded by Mr Griffiths, the programme as submitted was adopted. Mr Boss suggested the establishment of an Oukes Stakes. The suggestion gave rise to discussion, during the course of which the Chairman remarked that the question of an Oaks Stakes bad been discussed, and the Committee were generally of opinion that the time bad not yet arrived for the introduction of such a stake. However, there would be no harm done in the matter, being, brought before the Committee. On the motion of Mr Griffiths it was resolved to ask the Committee to consider whether it would not be advantageous to impose a penalty or penalties in future in the Champagne Stakes:
