June 6—Taiaroa, s.s., 228 tons, Smith, for Dunedin. Passengers—Miss Pearson, Messrs Hassel, MoMaster, Clulee, Brooke, Dudley, and Fitzsimmons. IMPORTS. In the Syren : 266 tons coal. Consignee —E. Smith. EXPORTS. In the Taiaroa, N.M. and A. Co, agents: 170 sacks barley, 45 hides, 27 casks tallow. Shippers—N.Z.L. and M.A. Co ; N.Z.M.P. Co; Evans. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Omapere, s.s, from the South, on Tuesday Spray, schooner, from Stewart’s Island, early The barquentine Yolande arrived at Auckland, from this port on Sunday last, after a run of 10 days. The tonnage loading on the berth at London on April 17, for Australia and New Zealand, amounted to 47,951 tons. The Governor hqs confirmed the decision of the Takapuna Court of Inquiry suspending the certificate of Frederick Jones, for six months. The steamship City of Paris, a well-known Trunan liner, has recently been sold by that Company for £2l ,C 3, and w. ?1 1, it is said, run in future between San and Hew Zealand. The price paid is a striking example of the rapidity with which a steamship falls in value now-a-days. The City of Paris cost nearly £100,600 to build. The brig Syren arrived this morning from Newcastle, with 266 tons of coal for Mr Ebenezer Smith. She has had a very long ‘passage across, which occupied 31 days, having left Newcastle on May 8. She had fair wind until nearing the New Zealand coast, when she experienced a succession of calms, followed on May 30 by a strong S, W. gale. On her appearance in the oiling, the tug Titan proceeded out and towed her in to the wharf, and she had a quantity of r coal out by 11 o’clock.
