[Received June 6, 1881, 1,20 p.m,] Commercial* London, June 6, Consols have advanced by f, and are now quoted at par (ex dividend). Hew Zealand securities are quoted as follows:—s per cent 10-40 loan, 104; 5 per cent 1889 loan, 102 f ; 4jf per cent 1879-1904 loan, 102 f; 4 per cent inscribed stock, IOOf. Colonial breadstuffs continue dull. Adelaide wheat, ox granary, is worth 41s; and Hew Zealand do, remains at 35s to 40s. Adelaide flour, 28s. Tallow—Australian average quality, beef, 3Gs, and mutton 38s 6d. The wool sales were resumed to-day, when a catalogue of 11,300 bales was submitted. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England, is £14,600,000, being a decrease of £1,000,000 during the week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is at 47 per cent. The Bank rate of discount remains at 2f per cent, and the market rate at If per cent.

Consols are unchanged at par, ex div. New Zealand securities remain at last quotations. The markets for colonial breadstoffs and tallow ate unchanged. At to-day’s wool auction 9,400 bales were offered. The market continues firm and crossbreds are rather higher. 28,000 bales have been withdrawn since the opening. A serious dynamite explosion occurred at Barcelona, where attempts were made to commit similar outrages last month. The explosion was caused by a dynamite cartridge which had been placed in the street. One person was killed, and the buildings near the spot were greatly injured.
