Serious Accident* Wellington, May 30. A serious accident occurred on the Wellington-Manawatu railway at the works at Paramatta this morning. A blast had been prepared, and not going off, Richard Dempsey and Robert Jenkins went to examine it, when it suddenly exploded. Both men were seriously hurt and were removed to the hospital. Distress in Dunedin. Dunedin, May 30. Upwards of 150 of the unemployed gathered at the Town Hall to-day, clamoring for work. The Mayor telegraphed to the Premier, asking him to set apart work for them, as it was urgently required. The Gold Escort The Gold escort brought down eleven packages of the value of £36,000.
