LECTURE OH THE MOON;
The Hon. J. B, Acland last eveningdelivered a lecture upon “The Moon."’ There was a fair attendance, but nothing like so numerous an audience as tho excellence of the address merited. Archdeacon Harper occupied the Chair. The lecturer gave an account of the nebular theory, and traced the history of the moon as a member of the nebular system, and quoted the works of astronomers bearing upon the structure of the moon and the peculiar craters that appear upon it. The influence of the moon on the earth and on human affairs was treated of at considerable length, and several superstitious theories in connection with <!ie moon were com> batted. The lecture as most attentively listened to and highly appreciated, ana at its close a hearty vote of thanks was given to Mr Acland.
Tho lecture is to be repeated this evening at Geraldine.
