The English Mails* Wellington, Jan. 3. The Australia with the December English mails left San Francisco for Auckland on the 22ad alt., one day later than the time table date. The Zealandia with the December Colonial mails arrived at San Francisco from Auckland on 30th nit., three days earlier . than time-table date. The Governor’s Trip Delayed. On account of the state of the weather, Bis Excellency the Governor has been obliged to postpone his departure for the South until! 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Lytiletou Regatta* Chbistchubch, Jan, 2. The Champion four-oared race at the Lyttelton Regatta, postponed from yesterday, resulted as follows:—KaiaSi, 1; Canterbury Club, 2; Union üb, 3; Wellington last. Amusements in InvercargillInvebcargill Jan. 2. Showers fell at intervals yesterday, and to some extent interfered with holidaymakers. The Caledonian gathering was attended by over 3C30 people, and passed off successfully. At the , sports of the National Society there were between five and six hundred present.. The Horticultural Show was well patronised. To*day the weather . has improved, and the Caledonian games were continued, while over 1000 people went to the Bluff to witness the Regatta.
