S. G. Times Office, Monday Evening. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week os follows, viz. Horses—A small entry of horses was on Saturday booked at their yards for sale,and with few exceptions the quality was poor. They report a dull demand for almost all classes, and few lots changed hands. Prices are much the same as last week, at which quotation they sold several lots. Sheep—lhe demand is very brisk for almost all kinds of store sheep, and prices realised are high values. They have held no auction sales during the week, but privately they have sold2ooo merino wethers and 800 merino wethers at satisfactory prices; also, 1200 two-tooth cross-breds at good values, Fat sheep—Prices are about equal to 3d per lb for prime quality mutton, at which quotation they have sold several small lines. Cattle—A good demand exists for wellgrown cattle, and three-year-old steers and heifers are saleable at from £5 to £6, Young cattle are not in any great demand at present. From 25s to 80s can be got for yearlings, and from£2 10s to £3 for two-year-olds, Fat cattle are worth from 22s 6d to 25s per 1001 b for prime quality beef. Clearing Sale—On account of Mr Alex. Beck, Otaio, they held a clearing sale of his farming stock and implements, on Wednesday last, and succeeded in placing the greater number of the horses, cattle and implements at satisfactory prices.
