Lord Sherbrooke’s butler caught a burglar in his Lordship’s town house. “William,” said the peer to a page, “go into the kitchen and tell a policeman or two to come up.’ William, amazed at the order, went, and soon returned with the news that there was no policeman on the premises. “ A plain cook and three housemaids in my employ and no policeman in the kitchen !” said Lord Sherbrooke, “Itis a miracle ! Butler, let the mag go instantly I"
