Mails close at the Chief Post Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : Thursday, Nov. 8. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, New South Wales and Queensland, per Hauroto, at 6 a.m. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, New South Wales and Queensland, per Manapouri, at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7. For United Kingdom (to connect with Orient steamer at Melbourne), and Australian Colonies, per Tarawera, at4p,m, Correspondence for this route must be paid 8d per £-oz. Saturday, Nov 10. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Taiatoa, at 2,50 p.m. Friday next (Nov. 9) being a public holiday, all branches of this department will be closed. Mails usually closed on Friday will close on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. There will be a delivery of letters over the counter on Thursday, from 8 till 9 p.m. The telegraph office will be open on Friday, Nov. 9, for the transmission of telegrams, between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m., and 7 and 8 p.m, (Signed) Ed.
