ALL AN ACCIDENT.

At the Thames Police Court recently a buxom-looking dame, of apparently about forty years of age, flounced into the witness box at tbe conclusion of the night charges, and stated that she wanted a summons against another “ lady ” for her.

Mr Lushington—What is it that she did to you ? Applicant—Well, your Worship, I was sitting at home quietly in my own place last night, when she came to my door and knocked, and when the little girl went out to open the door I heard her say “Is your mother at home, my dear?" and I cads out, quite innocent like, “ Why, a course I am ; come in," and in she did come with a vengeance. She rushed at me afore I knew where I was. She pulled my hair down and grabbed it out by the roots, and scratched me about like a whole menagerie of wild beastesses; the “ Invincibles ” was nothing to her. She regularly tore my clothes to ribbons.

His Worship : Well what provocation had you given for all this? Applicant; Why just nothing at all sir bat she said that it was about her husband.

His Worship : Well, what about her husband ?

Applicant (laughing): Well, we was all out together the other night enjoying ourselve-, and I and another woman a friend of mine, were larking about, and somehow or other, quite by accident, I stumbled and fell on this lady’s" husband's knee, and my friend fell on tbe oilier knee. We did not mean any harm, in fact, it was really an accident, His Worship : I shall not grant you a summons under these circumstances. One of the warrant officers shall see her and caution her ; that is all I shall do in the matter.
