Sailed, this afternoon—City of New York, for Sin Francisco via Auckland, with £122,000 in specie. Mrs Hampson the evangelist, is a passenger. Affray with Chinese. Brisbane, Nov. 1. A serious affray occurred to-day among the Chinese on a plantation near Cairns. One man was killed and three were wounded. Wool[Received Nov. 1, 1883,10. 10 p.m.] At the wool sale to-day the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Ld.) catalogued 2400 bales of which 2260 were sold. The catalogue was composed of usually choice lots, including several leading clips from western districts. A parcel of 210 bales of greasy sold at l4ij the highest price (his season ; scoured brought up to 22£1. The prices generally are very satisfactory.
