Calma, while out exercising this morning, was tried over the Cup distance, and covered it in a second less than Darebin’s time. The betting on Calma is 8 to I, The second forfeits for the Melbourne Cup were declared to-day. The following horses accepted : Aide-de-Camp Anglesey Archie Bis-Bis Bordeaux Calma Claptrap Commotion Cunnamulla Despot Dirk Hatteraick Dukedom First Demon First Water Jessie Kathleen MavourKingsdale neen Kohinoor Le Grand Lesbia Linda Magnet Martini-Henri Nicholas Off Color Pollio Recovery Santa Claus Sardius Signor Sir Modred Stockwell Sweet William The Gem Vernet. Thirty-five horses now remain in. [Received Oct, 31,1883,1,10 a.m.] The following is the latest betting on the Cup;— Calma —8 to 1 First Demon —100 to 10 Le Grand—loo to 8 Aide-de Camp—loo to 8 Despot—loo to 7 Nicholas—loo to 6 Pollio—loo to 4 First Water —100 to 4 Magnet—loo to 4 100 to 3 and 100 to 4 are taken about Cunnamulla.
