The Premier. Wellington, Oct. 26. Major Atkinson left for New Plymouth this morning. It is expected he will be absent about eight or ten days. Later.
Major Atkinson, after visiting New Plymouth, proceeds from there to Auckland in the Hinemoa, The Hinemoa then returns to New Plymouth to bring down His Excellency the Governor, The Longhurst CaseA number of gentlemen who are interesting themselves in Longhurst’s case held a meeting to-day, and later one of them waited on the Minister of Justice asking what had been done with reference to the prisoner. The H'>n Mr Conolly replied that he would be able to give a definite reply within a month. Denniston v- “ Times ” Dunedin, Oct. 26, In the libel case Denniston v. “Otago Daily Times,” a verdict for the defendants was given with costs.
