THIS DAY. [Received May 17, 1883, 1.15 p.m. Shipping. London, May 15. Arrived—Steamer Paramatta at Plymouth, from Sydney, left March 23. The Suez Mail. , Mblboubne, May 17. The English mails via, Suez, for New Zealand, which arrived here yesterday by Ballarat, have been sent to Sydney where they will be placed on board the Hauroto, which leaves for Wellington to-morrow. A Sensible Bishop* Bishop Moorhouse has written a letter to the “ Argus,” in which he favors the opening of the Public Library on Sundays. ManslaughterNotwithstanding the evidence of the miners, the Manager of Ellenborough mine at Eaglehawk, will bo tried for manslaughter in connection with the death of the two men who were crashed by a fallof stone in the mine last month. Stealing Scrip. It is stated that the Bank manager at Eaglehawk has made use of three thousand pounds worth of scrip deposited by customers. The name of the manager is, however, witheld. Shipping.
