SERIOUS BLUNDER BY A RETURNING OFFICES.
[By Telegraph] Gisborne, May 16. The Ormond Eoad Board is in a curioos fix. After the election of the Board the Returning Officer sealed up (he ballot papers, to bo deposited for a
year with the clerks of the R.M. Court for safe custody, aod by a mistake also included the rate rolls. The clerks cannot'break the seals under a penalty of £SO, and under the circumstances the Highway Board can neither collect nor levy rates. The fact caused much commotion.
