SUPREME COURTS.
[By Telegraph.] ’ WanoaMui, April 24. , The half-yearly session of the Supreme ' Court opened this morning before, His Honor Sir Jas. Pfendergast. A heavy ' calendar was presented (thirteen charges) including manslaughter, perjury, _m- . decent assault (2), breaking and entering, ■ house-breaking, child murder, stealingfrom a dwelling, assault with intent - against Europeans, also charges of ’ ' wounding, perjury, stealing, and larceny «s a bailee. True Bills were returned in the cases of Maoris, Henuiu, stealing from the iperson; Tui Matiha, larceny as a bailee : .Elizabeth Jacobs, stealing from a ■dwelling, and John O’Donnell, house- , breaking, Tui Matiha pleaded guilty of larceny an( j was sentenced to twelve month's imprisonment with hard labor, ' Invercargill, April 24. The Supreme Court opened to-day. Judge Williams in his charge dealt principally with the Massey case, an outline of which he gave, and .concluded by saying that the question for the jury was did the male prisoner, having the debentures in hit) custody for the purpose of exchanging them, Instead sell them through the female prisoner and appropriate the proceeds. John Gardener, for larceny, was sen•fenced to six months bard labor.
