SAD FATALITY.

Last night, about 6 o’clock a man named George Crien, residing in St. John’s Wood, left home with one, John Crumtnie, of Pareora, with whom be bad engaged to work. They bad one horse between them which they agreed to ride tarn and turn about. Somewhere beyond Saltwater Creek, Brien, who was then riding, asked for a drink from a bottle which Crnmmie had. He was in the Act' of . receiving the bottle when the horse shied and Brien fell withont bis feet being disengaged from the stirrups, and was dragged a considerable distance. Crummie obtained assistance from the neighboring hotel, and the unfortunate man was conveyed home, where be died at 11.30 this morning. Dr Maclntyre when called in had pronounced the case hopeless. An inquest was held this afternoon at the Old Bank Hotel.
