S. O. Times Office, Monday Evening. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week, as follows: — Horses-An unusually large number of draught and light horses wore received at their yards on Saturday for sale, over 120 having been entered and submitted at auction They have to report a good enquiry for both draughts and saddle horses, and a considerable competition was experienced on Saturday for some of the best sorts. Their yards were crowded out, the attendance being large throughout the whole of ihe Ba le, which lss‘cd without intermission from eleven in the forenoon till five o’clock in the evening, and nearly one-half of the number entered found buyers at satisfactory prices. Their principal entry of light horses was a lot of fourteen good hacks and harness horses, the property of Mr L'. Macpherson. Hakateramca Station These found purchasers at from £l4 10s to £3l, the lot averaging £2l. A number of other light horses found buyers at from £lO to £25. Mr M. Wightman brought in a splendid lot of draught mares and geldings, some of which were really yorv good. £4O was obtained for a very good gelding; £37 for another, and nearly two-thirds of his lot were sold at prices somewhat under these quotations. On account of several other owners they sold a number at from £26 to £35 for fair good draughts, and from £lB to £22 for inferior Sheep—There is a good demand for all kinds of store sheep, both merinos and cross-breds, and wheie the sheep are good high values are given. Thsy have sold several lots at their country sales, viz , 301 merino ewes at 4s ; 540 merino ewes at 4s 6d; and privately they have placed 1200 merino wethers, 1100 merino ewes, and 300 cross-breds, all at satisfactory prices. Fat sheep are in fair demand, and are fetching good prices. At their usual monthly sale at Studholme Junction last Monday, they sold on account of Mr Studholme, 630 merino wethers at 8s 9d, 300 cro-s-bred wethers at 12s 9J. On account of another owner, 300 cross-bred ewes at 11a 6d. At Winchester last Wednesday a small lot of 200 half-bred ewes were placed at 10a 3d. Cattle—Store cattle are still very difficult to place at their values, and there is but little demand at present, At Studholme Junction yards" they sold, on account of Mr L. Price, a lot of 37 young steers, heifers and calves, the former at 52s 6d, and the calves at 17j 6d. On account of another owner they placed a small line of steers and heifers at from £2 to £3 2s. Fat Cattle—They have no sales of importance to report. They have sold ■everal small lots at prices equal to about 20s per 1001 b. On account of the owner, they sold at Saltwater Creek on Tuesday last, 9 dairy cows and 18 calves; the former at from £6 to £9 per head, and the latter at from 13s to £2 2s, At the Cave, on account of Mr Squire, they sold a few lots of steers at £4 10s, heifers at £4, yearlings at 37s 6d. At the same sale,on account of other owners, several lots were sold at the above quotations.

Messrs William Collins and Co. report a large' attendance of buyers at their regular weekly auction on Saturday. The entries were large and varied, but owing to the good competition prevailing, all lots were cleared at the following figures: —Derwent potatoes, 50s to 60s per ton, per sack, 6s ; fowl wheat, 2s to 2s 9d per bushel; per sack, 10a ; onions, l£d per lb ; feed oats, Is 6d to 2s per bushel, according to quality; flour, £lO 10s per ton; per 501bs, 5s 6d ; fresh butter, 8d to 1s per lb ; bacon pork, 4d to 4£d ; hams and bacon, (the entry was of a very inferior description), 4d to 5d per lb; apples, 7s per case; pears, (cooking), 5s ; turkeys, 6s to 10s per pair; geese, 6s per pair; fowls, 2s to 2s 6d per pair; hares, 2s per pair; wild ducks, 2s per pair; pukakis, 2s per pair; box tea, IGs to 12s per box. A quantity of furniture and other sundries were quitted easily. Coals—They sold during the week the whole cargo, 640 tons, ex Palado, from Newcastle, New South Wales, at a figure equal to owners’ instructions.

Messrs Southan and Stubbs report for the week ending on Saturday as follows : - The attendance at their weekly market and sale was good, and biddings consequently spirited. The entries were of fair average. Sales were effected of prime Derwent potatoes at 5s to 6s ; fowl wheat, 8s to lls per sack; seconds barley, 8s per sack ; good feed oats, Is lOd to 2s; onions, 8s 6d per cwt; eggs, Is 6d per dozen; fowls 2s to 3s per pair ; ducks 3s 6d to 4s per pair; geese 4s 6d each; bran, £3 10a per ton ; sharps, £4 5«; bacon, 6d to 7d per lb; hams, 7d to 8d per lb. A sundry lot of good furniture was quitted at fair xemnnerative rates.
