Captain Thomson, reporting to the Harbor Board, suggests that the time has arrived when, in order to secure better efficiency in tbe pilot service, a i younger body of men should bo employed. With that view he tenders his own resignation as chief harbormaster, and continues in the Governi ment employ in connection with the docks, etc. ’ Two Men DrownedInveecaegill, March 21. i News has reached the Bluff that a ' boat containing two natives and a European named Joseph England cap--5 sized in a squall off Ruapeke. England 1 and one native were drowned, the 1 clung to an oar and reached shore. Both bodies have been recovered.
