An arrest has been made in connection with the letter containing explosive material addressed to the Viceroy of Ireland, which was recently detected in the post of Ballydehol, County Cork, Ireland. Disturbances in Paris. Paris, March 10. Five thousand Socialists who had today collected at the Place des Invalides were dispersed by the police. Louise Michel, who was present, was placed under arrest, [Received March 18, 1883, 8.30 p.m.] March 11. Nineteen Socialists, who were arrested yesterday in the place des Invalides, have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonmient. It is feared that Socialist disturbances will be renewed, and measures are being taken by the authorities to prevent their recurrence. The statement that Louise Michel was arrested yesterday is now proved to be i ncorrect. A warrant has, however, beei a issued for her arrest. March 12. More Dastardly TacticsMarch 16 (morning.) An explosion of dynamite occurred last evening at the office of the Local Government Board, in Whitehall. The offices were completely wrecked. Immense damage was caused to the buildings, and thousands of windows in the vicinity was shattered. Fortunately no one was injured. One man has been arrested in connection with the outrage, which it is supposed was committed as an act of vengeance for the rejection by the House of Commons of Mr Parnell’s demand for an amendment of the Irsh Land Act.
