The Australian Team. Dunedin, August 29.
Mr Halifax vyrites to the “ Star ” as follows:—“ According to letters just received there is no possibility of the Australian team visiting New Zealand, as their articles of agreement do not admit of further extension. Their team, after arrival in Melbourne, will play two matches against Mr Bligh’s team. They may, however, come over not as a team, as Massie and others. are anxious to visit the colony.” Mr Halifax has been appointed to arrange for the visit of Mr Bligh’s team to New Zealand.

The snow on the ranges at the head oftheMataura and Waikaia is heavier than any that has previously been seen, and the spring floods are feared. The rabbits in the high country are perishing by thousands.
