There was a clean sheet at the B.M. Court this morning. The monthly meeting of St. John’s Lodge (Masonic), takes place this evening. Sonthan and Stubbs will hold their nsual weekly sale, to-morrow, of produce ; also, tweeds, coatings, &c. The husband of the Baroness BnrdottCoutts has been permitted by the Queen to change his name. He finds it a little too long. This is what he used to be: —" William Lehman Ashmead Burdett-Contts-Bartlett-Coutts.” This is what he is“ William Lehman Ashmead Bartle tt-Burdett- Coutts. ” A Mrs Long, an English lady travelling recently in the South of France, was repeatedly mistaken for the ex*Empresß Eugenie, and received much homage. People smiled incredulously when told that she was plain Mrs Long. A new and fast paddle-steamer, the Invicta was launched recently. The Invicta will run in the channel service between Dover and Calais, in conneo* tion with the mail trains of the London Chatham, and Dover railway, and is expected by its owners to perform the DM passage in one hour.
