LEVELS ROAD BOARD.
The polling for the election of two members of the Levels Road Board took place yesterday, and the official declaration .of .the result-was made at noon to-day. , The retiring members were Messrs J. Mclntosh and W. Moody, the former o£...wb.Qm ..declined,,to stand again, and there were three candidates. The polling resulted *as follows * W. Moody ... 330 J. C. McKerrow,.. ... 252 , G. G. Russell. . ... ... 116 There were five informal votes. Messrs Moody’ and McKerrow were therefore declared duly elected. A suggestion that the Returning. Officer, Mr Wright, who is also the Board’s rate collector, should receive rates due at the polling place presided oyer by him in North street,.was carried out, and proved very successful. The duties Of Mr Wright were of coarse doubled, no doubt it was a labor of love to him, to .qualify-; the ratepayers to vote by receiving their money. He had large piles of notes and cheques to deposit to the Board’s credit. The election was quietly conducted.
