CRICKET.
[Bt Cable]. VICTORIA V. NEW SOUTH WALES. Melbourne, Dec. 24. The intercolonial cricket match between eleven of Victoria and eleven of Now Sou tii Wales was commenced today. The first innings of the Victorians closed for 232, and at the close of the day’s play the Sydney team had one wicket down for 21 runs. Dec. 26. The match was resumed to-day. The
first innings of the Sydney team closed for 146 runs, and being 86 behind their opponents, they followed their innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had put together 100 runs for the loos of four wickets.
ENGLISH ELEVEN V. ADELAIDE Adelaide, Dec. 28.
The cricket match between the English team and fifteen of South Australia was commenced here to-day. The local team went first to the wickets, and when the stumps were drawn for the day they had put together 194 for the loss of seven wickets. The attendance on the ground was only moderate. Dec 24. The match was resumed to-day. The first innings of the local team closed for 244 runs, and when the stumps were drawn the English team had two wickets down for 126 runs ; Selby not out for 51, Barlow not out for 46.
