(Per Press Association.) A New MinisterWellington, Oct. 14. Mr Oliver has accepted the seat in the Cabinet without portfolio. His Excellency will be advised to call him to the Legislative Council. Volunteering for the Front. Nelson, Oct. 14. At the parade of artillery last night, there were between 50 and 60 present, and all offered their services unconditionally to go to the front in case they were required. All the Artillery, 1\ avals and City Rifles have now offered their services, with the exception of one man. Criminal. Christchurch, Oct. 14. There ore 21 prisoners for trial at the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, which open next week. The cases include housebreaking, horsestealing, forgery, burglary, libel, and indecent assault. False Pretences. Ashruuton, Oct. 14. At Ibe Magistrate’s Court this morning Charles Rylands, on remand, was committed for trial on two separate charges of obtaining goods by means of valueless cheques. A third charge of a similar nature broke down in consequence of its being shown that the cheque had not been presented for payment at the Bank. The Electoral Rolls. Invercargill, Oct. 14. The “Southland News” has published the Invercargill Electoral Roll, and intends following the same course with the roll of other Southland districts.
