We observe that Mr. C. Beeby, working jeweller, has opened a shop in Farley’s Arcade. Mr. Beeby has a choice selection of richly mounted stones and other ornaments on view.

We have received from Mr. Joseph Braithwaite “The New Zealand Songster, No. 4.” It is, if anything, better than the previous numbers, and the selection of songs and recitations is creditable to the compiler. It deserves a largo sale. We have on our library table the Marquis of Lome’s new work—“A Tale of the Riviera”: Macmillan, London; and Reith and Wilkie, Dunedin. We shall review it in our next number. The Household Friend, a neat little literary venture published at Nelson, has reached us. It is a weekly journal devoted to light literature, and, from a glance at its columns, we consider it well worthy of support.
