Over-Seas League.
On Tuesdny, 14 th August, a very full meeting was held in the rooms, to listen to Capt. R. W. Campbell, a visitor to Samoa (troin Scotland) who is makiug a tour of the South Seas for thu purpose of writing a book, iu which he intends to write favourably of our island home Captain (Jam p: ell is alrtady well know a here. His first irapres ions were gained iu quarantine ! His address had tor its subj.ct the opportunities that there are iu Samoa of building up a community wedded to high ideals, strengthened by firm resolves, and, in its decision to stand for the "truth," animated by that ever-ready cheerfulness which knows no defeat. "The
eyes of the world," declared the speaker, *'are ou iSunioa. Let iSainoa be up and doing !" Alter the address, Capt. Campbell told a series of anecdotes, many of them making tun of the (Janny Scot. To many present no doubt the old accent would bring back meinoiies of earlier days ; days of rambles in the highlands "wherein the sent of heath- " er's blent with odour of the sea." impromptu dance followed, after which a generous supper was pai taken of.
