APIA OBSERVATORY RECORDS. The figure given for the daily rainfall represents the, accumulated precipitation for the 24 hour* preceding 9 a in. of the given day.

During the week Aug. 4—Aug. 11, the sunrises at 6.16 a.m., and sets 5.49 p.m. giving possible sunnhiae 11 hours 3S minutes. .•;.:■ # , Three very small local earthquakes were recorded during the week July 26—Aug. 1. Ihe first occurred on July SO at 3.65 a.m., and the last two on July 31 at 0.55 a.m. and 7.52 a.m. The rainfall for the month ef June at the United Sates Naval Station, Pago Pago was 14.:> inches. . «

TO OVERSEAS SUBSCRIBERS. Remittances from abroad in payment of subscriptions to the Samoa Times should be made by Post Office Order. The reason why ?
