NOTICES AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.

We have not room for our promised article on Ethnology, but in the narrative of the Missionary Voyage will be found several notices which will interest those who take an interest in such matters.

Messrs. Hardie and Stair have been appointed to share with Mr. Heath the responsibility of the Editorial department. We are obliged by the encouraging approval of our Sydney friends.

Death has again been permitted to afflict and weaken our Mission, Early in August the Rev. G. Stallworthy had to commit to the grave the remains of his beloved wife after but a brief period allowed to their conjugal happiness. She died of consumption : and has left, in addition to her attached husband, an infant child, and aged parents to mourn this loss, bjgt with this consolation, that she died with “a good hope through grace.”

We have not room for the lines of Toeaina, and think them too personal; but we agree with him, that more of our “ leading men” ought to go out as Missionaries.

The following members of the Samoan Mission gratefully acknowledge the receipt of presents as under: Mr. Drummond, a box of useful articles from Mrs. Pine, near Ongar, Essex. Mrs. Macdohald, 25 children’s dresses from Mrs. Conder, Hitchin. Mr Buchanan a valuabie Cyclopedia and other useful books from unknown friends.

Mr Bullen a large box of clothes and other useful articles from the Ladies, and juvenile working parties of Wycliffe Chapel, Dr Reeds. Also a box of clothing slates &c from Miss Vallance and friends, Bristol. Also a small box of childrens’ clothing from an unknown friend.

Two boxes of ironmongery and other valuable articles for Tutuila; donors unknown-

Mr Harbutt to H. Forbes Esq, and many friends in Bradford and Knaresbro for many articles of great use in schools and general work. Mr Chisholm to Mrs Kelly and young ladies of the working association, Crescent Chapel, Liverpool; also to Mrs Culbard and friends, Elgin; also friends, Old Chapel, Oswestry; respectively for boxes of useful articles.

Mr Heath to Rev J. Peggs for a parcel of books.
