Holiday Sports

Whangateau Meeting

Glorious weather favoured the Whangateau Sports Club when it held its annual meeting on .New Year's Day. The fixture drew a large attendance of residents, holiday makers, and campers from neighbouring bays, who were rewarded with a thoroughly enjoyable day's sport. The majority of the events attracted good entries and were keenly contested. An outstanding and interesting feature of the programme was the "Old Fashions Parade."' Costumes worn in the year 1850 to the year 1905 were included in those displayed by a number of competitors.

. .T.hd running of the various events was carried out without a hitch, and in this respect the president, Mr L. W. Meiklejohn, the secretary, Mr Fred. Dickson, and the various officials are to be congratulated. At the conclusion of the programme the president returned thanks to those who had attended and expressed the hope that the day had been an enjoyable one.
