Women's Institutes.

The monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held in the Leigh Public Hall on Thursday, 11th Dec. Mrs A. ,T. Matheson presiding. In the absence of the secretary, Miss Ashton filled that office. Mrs Neeley, gave a full and interesting report of her visit as a delegate to the conference in Auckland. The roll call "My Favouiite: Verse," produced sonio very fine efforts. Mrs T. H. atid Mrs H. Ashtqii were in charge of a well-filled trading stall. The result of the points competitions was as follows:—HTlqwers: Mrs A. Wyattl, Mrs Evans, 2, Mrs Rogers 3 ; cooking, sultana scones : MissM. Dunning 1, Miss K. Evans 2, Mrs A. J. Matheson 3 ; sewing: wool-wor-ked cushion : Mrs A. J. Matheson 1, Miss R. Ashton 2, Mrs Jones 3. The hostesses of the afternoon were Mesdames H.
