Railway Developments
Numerous improvements are reported in connection with the railways in the Auckland district. A culvert near Kaukapakapa on the North Auckland line has been replaced with a rolled-steel joist bridge and the work of renewal of a bridge in similar material has been put in hand near Mount Rex station. Ai Kopu, the goods shed backshunt has been converted into a loop ; the crossing loop afc Walton has been extended to hold 60 four-wheeled vehicles and at Cambridge provision is being made for additional stock-loading facilities. The important work oi eliminating level crossings at Piako and Helensville South has been commenced. Work has also started on the erection of two houses at Pukefcutu and one at Kaukapakapa, while four dwellings at Manurewa have been connected with the local authority's water supply.
