THE TRANS-ANDES RAILWAY
' The railway across the Andes has been completed. The length is two hundred and seventy miles, the highest altitude fourteen hundred feet above sea level, and the contract price two million seven hundred and fifty thousand pounds. This new line will shorter, the distance between two main trading centres by four hundred miles.
