BEAUTY AND THE THROAT

The care of the throat and the preservation of the contours of the neck become of interest to the woman who wishes to look her best.

"Cultivate the habit of searching for aeroplanes," is the advice of a beauty expert who trains her pupils to walk with the head thrown well backwards in order to prevent tne sagging of the throat lines.

Another authority recommends the more severe measures of breathing deeply and while the lungs are fiiled to the fullest extent, the disfiguring double chin is to receive ten sharp blows with the back of the hand, and is to be struck sharply enough to make the tears, come.

This is to be done twice, and if practised daily it is said the ' 'slapping" exercise will take off the fraction of an ounce of flesh each day. Still another method to reduce any signs of a double chin *is to wring out a towel in hot water every day and hold it to the superfluous flesh. Continue this practice for five minutes, and then hold the chin over a basin of hot water until it perspires freely. The throat is then to be bathed with cold salt water or a compress of cold water to which a few drops of simple tincture of benzoin have been added must be laid on the neck.

The girl who wishes to whiten her throat should bathe it every evening in hot milk in which a little borax has been dissolved. When it is dried the neck must be gently massaged with almond oil and rose water. This will not only whiten the skin but will also take away any wrinkles in the neck and will leave it soft yet firm.
