Magazine Making in Australasia.
THE SUCCESS OF " EVERYLADY'S JOURN&L." It is a common belief that women in Australia and New Zealand must look to England aud America for.their magazine reading. It has been left for the Editor of " Everylady's Journal "to explode this idea by publishing locally a woman's magazine of ■which Australia and New Zealand women may be proud. l< Everylady's Journal" is so rich in local articles, stories, competitions, pictures, etc., printed on good white paper, that we wonder how it can be done for sixpence. Both the June and July issues of this fine magazine lie before us. They provide striking evidence of the strides made in the art of magazine making in recent years. Into tlie sixty big and finely printed pages of each issue is crowded a wealth, of entertaining articles, practical depar-tments, fashion designs, clever short series, etc. We do not hesitate to recommend our women readers to spend Gd on the current issue of " Everylady's Journal." A fine serial story has just begun, and £150 is offered in 'cash prizes for judging fashion designs and solving picture-puzzles. We heartily approve of "Everylady's Journal" as a capital magazine for the women in the home, because, while it amply reflects the fashion world and the practical affairs of the home, it gives much space to articles of entertainment ani. instruction. Nothing could be more timely than Chas. Nuttall's clever illustrated talk with Sousa, or Mr Biascheck's account of how the public is made to laugh, or Miss Dare's adveutures among the fortune-tellers, or Miss Serjeant's study of Queen Mary of England. We wish " Everylady's Journal " continued prosperity. On patriotic grounds alone it deserves the support of all women; but, this aside, it is a remarkable sixpenn'orth. " Everylady's Journal is on sale at, or may be ordered constantly from, the E. and O. Times.
