TURAKINA NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent. The Tennis Club was opened for the season on Friday afternoon. A ' fair number of visitors and -members assembled. Miss Robb, secretary, spoke a few words of welcome to the visitors and called on the pres indent, Mr H. Y. Lethbridge, to formally open the courts. Mr Lethbridge in appropriate words did s o and than with Mrs Lethbridge commenced the play. Play was engaged in by the members and afternoon tea was banded round. The court, which is of asphalt, has been repaired, and is now in good order. The Maori lad, Piki Rennie, who was thrown off his horse last week and taken to Wangauni Hospital, has made a good recovery. His injuries were not so severe as was feared at the time of the accident and he is expected home this week.
