OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

At Wednesday’s meeting the Engineer, Mr RL Harding, reported;— Mangaone Riding—Some gravel repairs have been effected on the Feilding-Halcombe Road. X have arranged with Mr Abbiss to cart about a dozen loads of gravel on the roads leading to his property. Rangitawa Riding—The teams have finished work in this riding, and I propose to leave any further gravelling over ' until next season. Good work could now be done in this riding with the road grader. Raumanga Riding—Work on Kimbolton Road was delayed by wet weather but is now proceeding satisfactorily, and the portion that has been treated with the roller is in very fair order. A portion of McKay"’a Line requires scarifying and rerolling. Taonui Riding—All the roads in the vicinity of Bunnythorpe have been trimmed with the grader and are now in fair order. As nsnal the trees overshadowing the Bunnythorpe Road are causing a considerable amount of damage. During the recent floods a fairly deep scour occurred at the bridge over the Mangaone Stream on Reid’s Line. Hiwiniu Riding—Gravel repairs have been effected on the Palmer - ston-Asbhurst road, Reids Line, Bunnythorpe-Ashfanrst and Henaghan’s Roads have been trimmed with the grader. Daring the month I interviewed the Government Valuer with regard to the revaluation of the Kaukawa Block, hut although I urged upon him the urgency of this work I could get no promise of when it would be done. Otangaki Riding—The grader is at present at work trimming Ashhurst streets and other roads in this riding. I propose completing Pohaugina, Feilding-Ashhnrst and Bunnythorpe Roads and then sending the grader to Halcombe. Some further gravel repairs are required on Salisbury Street and Creamery Road, and when this is done all the roads will be in fair order.
