TAIHAPE NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent On Wednesday Mr E A Beiliss, who is to leave for Australia shortly with the New Zealand representative Rugby team, was entertained at a moat representative gathering of football enthusiasts and the public. The chairman, Mr L Leuihan, on behalf of those present and of the other subscribers to the fund, presented the guest with a suitable memento of hia connection with football in this district, and expressed the opinion that he had thoroughly earned bis place in the rep. team. The many friends® of Mr Godfrey Lyndon, who was a well-known resident of Taihape for many years, •will regret to learn of his death, which took place on Sunday last after s short illness. The deceased was greatly respected by a 11-who knew him. At Kangiwaea a young man named J Cullinane met with a painful accident whilst oat shooting He was getting through a wire fence when the trigger of the gun got caught, and exploded the cartridge. The charge of shot went through CulliHane’s 1 ft hand, cansing the loss of all the fingers except the forefinger. The injured man was conveyed to Taihape for treatment and is making good progress. gThe succession of very severe frosts has been followed by four or five days of exceptionally mild weather. Taihape Golf Club’s latest competition results are as follows Ladies’ tnedal handicap: Miss Mortland, 55—20—55; Miss O’Uallaghan, 57 —33 —35 ; Miss L Gillette, 57—16—41.
