It is proposed the Hospital be a Memorial to our fallen Soldiers, but it not designed to be, and will not be, in any sense antagonistic to the Memorial to be placed in the Marton Park. Christchurch reports serious coal shortage throughout Canterbury. Yesterday morning an old man named Walter Swinburne was found dead in his bed at Taihage. A Press Association message says : Mr J A Burnside, the well known architect, of Dunedin, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at the office of the Perpetual Trustees Company. The schooner O S Holmes, 66 days opt from ’Frisco, arrived at Auckland, yesterday with benzine. A squall during the voyage almost stripped the craft Of sails.
