ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY.

A PRISONER’S FEAT. Per Press Association. Hamiton, June 25 Thoras Oswald Knudson, who was sentenced yesterday to two years for theft, escaped from custody in the eary hours of the morning by cutting his way through the inner and outer walls of his cell, which together were about two inches thick. Knudson was awaiting transfer to Auckland to-day and was placed in the cell where he was visited at intervals. He was quite safe at 8 o’clock this morning, but was missing at 5 o’clock. Bo far there is no trace of Knudson, who is a Swedish sailor.
