Sir James Allen, speaking at the Victoria League meeting at the Guildhall, warmly repudiated the suggestion that Ncy Zealand does not welcome the British wives of New Zealand soldiers. He hoped that Britain would send an equal number of men to marry New Zealand wives. He reminded Imperial statesmen that the relations of the Dominions with the Motherland had materially changed since the war. Nqw Zealand was now grown up, and her signature to the Peace Treaty and her membership of the League of Nations amounted to the recognition of New Zealand as a separate entity. There were in the future possibilities of separation and independence, although probably less in New Zealand than elsewhere, but Sir Jas. Allen urged closer co-opera-tion to maintain and strengthen the unity of the Empire. WIRELESS STRIKE OFF LONDON, June 23. The wireless operators’ executive announce that the strike has been called off, owing to the grave dislocation of the country’s shipping 1 , and the operators securing adequate guarantees of fair treatment. HUNGARIAN GOVERNMENT y RESIGNS • PARIS, June 23. As a result of the boycott, the Hungarian Government has resigned.
