At the Wimbledon tennis championships. in the second round, Doust beat Hardy, Garland beat Winslow (South Africa), Tildon beat Framklin, Kingscoto beat Inman, Schleurlcer (Holland) beat Misu, Drew beat Max Doougis. In the third round Shimidzu beat Gobert G—4, 10 —S, 4 6,2 _6, 6 4. Shimidzu showed superiority m long driving and beautiful crosscoiut strokes. Brugmor beat 1 Laurentz, Mavrogordato beat Davson. In the mixed doubles, first round, Mademoiselle Lenglen and Patterson beat Miss Lance and Roper Barrett Q 3 ; 6 —o. Miss Lance is an Australian, and as Barrett had no partner. they officially paired, though they Tuicl never met before, txnci nntuicilly had no chance against the champions. Other doubles winners were: Mrs Lambert Chambers and Shimidzu, Miss Rvan and Lycett. Men’s doubles, first round: Gobert and Laurentz beat Van Lonnep and Scheurler.
